Children of all ages were scattered around the San Angelo Museum of Outstanding Arts ' meeting room, making origami cranes, scholarship how to use chopsticks and sampling traditional Japanese food of rice balls and edamame.
It was all part of the museum's monthly Kindred Day event, which celebrated Japan this month. The event is sponsored by Ethicon.
"We passion coming out here; it's one of our favorite things," said Lindsay Bonner, who brings her children Carson, 10, and Alyssa, 7, almost every month.
Each month SAMFA presents a conflicting country by displaying aspects of its culture and demonstrating art techniques in the museum's information studio.
"It's fun to learn new things about the different countries and their art, and all the different things you can do," Carson said.
More than 300 people attended the issue Saturday, visiting with presenters at each table who were eager to show off their artwork, shoes, clothing and dolls from Japan.
Living in Japan was "one of the most stunning experiences of my life," said Jayne Figueroa, who lived in Japan for two years while her silence was stationed there.
