Lori Petchers initially came to the "Old Bags" design by way of women's voices. Voices that have helped Petchers and collaborator Confidence Baum find theirs through this multimedia art initiative.
"I have hundreds of hours of interviews," said Petchers, 52, recently of "The Midlife Design" ( www.themidlifeproject.com), which features women from around the country sharing stories of what it means to be mesial-aged and all its effects on body image, hopes, challenges, relationships and sexuality.
The sessions were filmed as Petchers, a documentary filmmaker, was approaching 50 and her own musings on the submit.
"The commonality of the experience ... was that they had hit the best point in their life, having achieved a have a funny feeling that of who they were, but were being minimized by society," said Petchers, who lives in Fairfield. "They felt unseen."
