KATHY KEMP PROFILED PATTI WHEELER IN AUGUST 2004 By Kathy Kemp When Patti Wheeler starts counting husbands, you trouble a slide rule and a calculator to keep up.
The whiskey-voiced radio make-up, who, with "Dollar" Bill Lawson, hosts one of the city's most popular morning require shows on 102.5 FM (the Bull), is celebrating a quarter century on Birmingham's airwaves.
It's her most steadfast relationship. In contrast, her marital resume is long and complicated and reads like "War and Non-violent."
Patti wed her inaugural spouse, Chico Gale, in 1963 and divorced him for a Frenchman named Jean Claude, who then moved away, leaving Patti to put together Chico back.
Then she met
sexy disc jockey Steve Norris, whom she married after her damaged divorce from Chico, who, by the way, worked in a pet shop by day and chased down bail jumpers by blackness.
Pay attention, y'all. We're having a test at the end of this story.
